We have established a partnership with the Royal Marines which means we can now offer specially designed pre-ocean rowing training courses at the Royal Marines Commando Training Centre in Lympstone Devon.
It is planned that future rowing race competitors will be able to attend two weekend long training camps during their build up to their respective races. Each weekend training camp will be designed to assist in the mental and physical preparation for an ocean row. The first weekend will assess mental and physical abilities and assist in training regimes early in the build up. The second weekend, closer to the start of the race will assess the level obtained whilst providing a thorough training camp.
This course is not designed to be a 'Boot Camp' experience although it will test all competitors to the maximum level they are prepared operate at. It will be tailored to suit all levels of fitness, age and ability with the intention being to assist in preparation both mentally and physically. It is hoped this experience will also form an excellent team building and media opportunity for the many teams taking part in our races.
Although not a compulsory requirement for our races it is hoped these training weekends will form an exciting and valuable training aid to our rowers and a unique and challenging experience in itself for the individuals and teams taking part.
